Flying V Studio October 2015

Opportunities are truly everywhere

Fall brings so much to Tucson and a bonus this year was the Super Moon and simultaneous Eclipse late September

As I enjoyed the final fall Pops concert at the DeMeester Outdoor Performance Center, the Eclipse was in full swing. I’ve never had the gift of taking good photos; however, my dear friend Terry Parker (and owner of Loma Prieta Pottery here in Tucson) is indeed a GREAT photo expert. These are her photos of the spectacular event.

The Southern Arizona Clay Artists has a new slate of officers for 2016.

And the exciting part is these volunteers are already attending the Board meetings to learn the new duties they will assume in January. There are also new projects for the organization. “Art from the Attic” has had its 1st official collection date and the items donated are eye-catching. I am most excited about the new “Bowl-a-Week” project to increase the daily on-hand levels of handcrafted soup bowls for the Empty Bowls Luncheons. The project is designed to reduce the pressure on the individual potters to donate their bowls 4 times a year in massive quantities.

The Lew Sorensen Community Center is so much to so many.

In September, the Pottery Instructors of the LS Center, all of whom are SACA members, proudly hosted the SACA Member Social and General Meeting at their facility. Over 50 members and guests enjoyed an afternoon of comraderie and mentoring, and some even chose to take the guided tour.

I have always enjoyed the philosophies of Maya Angelou
and none more than this.

Flying V Studio thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this year’s Spring Artisan Market and we are very happy to be participating in the 2015
Holiday Artisans Market.

We work with people who love owning original artwork they can use everyday, and who expect beauty, quality, and affordability. We help them by creating gallery quality, functional and decorative art that fits into their daily lives.
